The Savory Spoon Cooking School is offering classes dedicated to a few favorite foods – namely, chocolate and pasta.
Savory Spoon’s in-house chocolatier, Kathy (Cocoa) McCarthy, who creates Savory Spoon’s Sweet Spot Chocolates, will teach a hands-on chocolate class on Saturday, July 11. Students will increase their “chocolate smarts” by learning about the art of classic truffle making using Belgian couverture chocolate, and will create one-of-a-kind decadent truffles using a praline crunch, seasonal fruit puree, and a variety of herbs. The class will also make a chocolate sauce.
July and August also brings three pasta-making workshops to the Savory Spoon. Also taught by Kathy McCarthy, these one-and-a-half hour classes deal with fresh fettuccine on July 22, fresh manicotti on August 6, and fresh ravioli on August 19. Each workshop will feature a fresh garden green salad with homemade vinaigrette, warm baguette bread, and chilled peach iced tea. Wine will also be available for purchase.
