Cheesemakers and Paella

By , Peninsula Pulse

On Aug. 20 at 6 pm, Savory Spoon Cooking School will host a Paella Party. Spaniards have a long tradition of making Paella for festivals and celebrations. The expression “ir de paella” literally means “to have fun.” The technique will be simplified so it is easy for everyone to re-create at home.

The menu includes Gazpacho Cordoba, Sauteed Asparagus in Almond and Cumin Sauce, Mussels Vinaigrette, Spanish Seafood Paella, and Paella with Wild Mushrooms and Chicken.

On Aug. 27 at 6 pm, Savory Spoon welcomes master cheesemaker Sid Cook of Carr Valley Cheese for a special evening of the “Meet the Cheesemaker” series. Cook has won more national and international awards than any cheesemaker in North America. As a fourth generation cheesemaker, Cook now operates four cheese plants as well as seven retail cheese stores in south central Wisconsin. Carr Valley Cheese began in 1902 and produces more than 80 varieties of award winning cheese.

This special evening will feature a variety of Carr Valley Cheese, and an assortment of accompaniments. Enjoy a glass of wine or craft beer while you meet the cheesemaker and learn what makes his cheese so special.
